Abstract:   (24 Views)
An analysis of the entrances of houses in Tabriz indicates that this component of the dwelling, under the influence of the city’s cultural, social, economic, and technological transformations, has undergone a complex process of continuity and change in entrance patterns. The main research problem, in addition to issues such as the lack of coherent studies on the transition of residential entrance patterns and the occasional irregularity or lack of pattern in entrances noted by some scholars, stems from serious concerns regarding a potential rupture in the indigenous entrance pattern. The necessity of the problem is the need to understand the stability or instability of the pattern over time, while a number of researchers insist on the stability of the pattern and a number of researchers believe that the fundamental and valuable principles of the entry pattern have lost their strong position and there is no trace of the past entry pattern in today's buildings. Despite this contradiction and exploration, addressing the stability or disruption of the entry pattern, even in the city of Tabriz, which is one of the oldest cities in Iran, has created serious concerns about the disruption of the native pattern.
Accordingly, the question is:  In the process of transition, what is the proportion of continuity or discontinuity in the pattern of Tabriz houses from the Qajar era to the present? This research aims to explicate the entrance pattern of Tabriz houses and to examine the trajectory of its transformation from the Qajar era to the present. The research method is a combination of quantitative-qualitative and comparative. the use of content analysis with MAXQDA statistical analysis software to extract concepts and quantify the entry pattern for examination in case studies, as well as a comparative study of the entry pattern of houses in different periods, inferring similarities and differences, and examining the trend of changes with a comparative study by George F. Brady. The results emphasize that identifying and articulating entrance patterns can contribute to improving the quality of contemporary housing in Tabriz preserving the city’s historical and cultural identity while responding to present-day needs. Consequently, this research not only offers a deeper understanding of the dynamics of Tabriz architecture over time, but also provides guidance for future context-sensitive and environmentally responsive design.
